Los Cabos with Kids – My Advice
- The best restaurant in Cabo San Lucas is Edith’s. It is located just a block back from Medano Beach. It is expensive and you must make a reservation well in advance, but the mesquite-grilled steaks and local seafood are excellent. The outdoor garden setting is very colorful and authentic.
- The best restaurant in San Jose del Cabo is La Lupita. It has great gourmet tacos and a fun, trendy atmosphere with live music most nights. It is located right in the center of the Art District. There is now a second location in Cabo San Lucas near the marina which is also very good.
- The Los Tamarindos Cooking Course is a fun and hands-on experience on an organic farm just outside of San Jose del Cabo. It is very kid-friendly if your children enjoy being outdoors and seeing where food comes from. You get to walk the farm and pick your own ingredients before the cooking lesson.
- The best zip line is at Wild Canyon adventure park. The lines are very high and long. The park also has a great suspension bridge and an animal sanctuary that is a hit with younger children.
- The Cabo Half-Day Luxury Sailing Adventure with Snorkeling is my favorite way to see the coastline. The tour takes you past the Arch and Land’s End. The staff is helpful with kids and the lunch and open bar are high quality. It is easy to find at the Cabo San Lucas marina.

Hi Dave,
Flying into Cabo San Lucas, which area is closest to the airport? Is it possible to stay somewhere closer than a 45 minute drive each way?
Thanks
Los Cabos is made of 2 towns, Cabo San Lucas to the southwest and San Jose del Cabo in the northeast. The Los Cabos Airport is only a 25 minute drive to San Jose del Cabo. Cabo San Lucas is quite a bit further but since it’s an expressway the whole way it’s still only about 40 minutes.
San Jose del Cabo is the more stylish and relaxing of the two towns, known for its Arts District and for having the only swimmable beach in the Los Cabos area (La Playita, or “little beach” on the opposite side of the estuary from downtown San Jose). You’ll find amazing hotels, fine dining restaurants, delicious casual cantinas, a bird sanctuary at the estuary, and stunning colonial architecture.
